PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new 4,4"-dihydroxy-p-terphenyl having an asymmetric molecular structure having a lower alkyl group only in the hydroxyphenyl group of one terminal of molecule thereof and expected to be excellent, for example, in the solubility in an organic solvent. SOLUTION: This new 4,4"-hydroxy-p-terphenyl is represented by formula (1) (wherein, R is a 1-4C alkyl group and n is an integer of 1-3).
