PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piping system and deformation measuring method enabling the simple measurement of a local deformation, in a pipe covered with a heat-insulating material. SOLUTION: This piping system comprises the pipe 1, the heat-insulating material 3 for covering the pipe 1, and a metallic covering 4 for covering the insulating material 3, where a plurality of holes 5 bored through the insulation material 3 and metallic covering 4 are provided in the axial direction of the pipe. At piping system deformation measurement, gauge heads 6 of a deformation measuring instrument are inserted into the plurality of holes 5 as deep as until they make contact with the pipe, and the local deformation in the pipe can be measured easily from the differences in the insertion depths between the respective gauge heads 6.
