PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glass composition for an electric lamp which enables the production of a glass composition for a compact fluorescent lamp which has no coloring by ultraviolet rays and the leakage of ultraviolet rays outside a tube, and has high brightness as well. SOLUTION: The glass composition contains, by mass, 60 to 80% SiO2 , 0.5 to 5% Al2 O3 , 0 to 3% B2 O3 , 2 to 10% Na2 O, 2 to 10% K2 O, 0.3 to 3% Li2 O, 13.2 to 18% Na2 O+K2 O+Li2 O, 0 to 8% CaO, 0 to 8% MgO, 2 to 10% SrO, 2 to 12% BaO, 5 to 15% CaO+MgO+SrO+BaO, 0.2 to 2% CeO2 and 0 to 0.18% SO3 .
