PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of parts of an optical connector for fixing an optical fiber cable. SOLUTION: The optical connector is composed of a housing 2 for housing the top end of an optical fiber cable 1 in a housing hole and a fitting metal 3 for fixing the optical fiber cable 1 and the housing 2. On the upper and lower parts of a rectangular body 13 of the housing 2, window parts 22 communicating with the housing hole for enabling the insertion of the fitting metal 3 are formed to face with the housing hole in-between. The lateral width of each of window parts 22 is made larger than the diameter of the housing hole so that projecting parts 33 and 34 of the fitting metal 3 can be respectively locked on the longitudinal wall of the window part 22. The top end of the optical fiber cable 1 is housed in the housing hole and an arcuate part 31 of the fitting metal 3 is spread over the optical fiber cable 1 from the upper window part 22. A jig for caulking is inserted to the lower window part 22, and left and right flat parts 32 of the fitting metal 3 are caulked and contacted to the outer peripheral surface of the optical fiber cable 1 with pressure.
