摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of easily detecting parameters such as a pre-tilt angle between a substrate surface and liquid crystal molecule in a liquid crystal panel and a twist angle of liquid crystal molecular allignment in a reflective liquid crystal panel with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: Light from a white light source 1 transmitted through a collimator 2 and an infrared cut filter 3 is defined as monochromatic light (wavelength 1) by a color filter 41, Stokes parameters S1, S21, S31 are measured for the liquid crystal panel 61 held between a polarizing plate (polarizer) 5 and a polarizing plate (polarizer) 8 by using the polarizing plate 8 and a quarter-wave plate 71, Stokes parameters S12, S22, S32 are similarly measured by using the polarizing plate 8 and a quarter-wave plate 72 by using a color filter 42 to transmit light (wavelength 2) with wavelength different from the wavelength 1 next. Then the thickness d of a liquid crystal layer, the twist angleϕof the liquid crystal molecular allignment and an average pre-tilt angleθin the liquid crystal panel 61 are obtained by solving a simultaneous equation of equations (7), (5) and (4). In the case of the reflective liquid crystal panel, the twist angle of the liquid crystal molecular allignment or the pre-tilt angle is obtained by similar operations.
