PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a time extension device for a detonator which improves the combustion persistence and combustion stability of the detonator, is so devised as not to stop combustion halfway and not to allow the detonator to remain by a misfire due to the variation, and the like, in the qualities between the lots or the materials and lessens the change in a combustion rate. SOLUTION: A core wire 1 consisting of a wire-like or belt-like metallic wire is penetrated into a combustion composition which is time extension chemicals 3. The metallic wire preferably consists of material having thermal conductivity ranging from 5 to 500 Wm-1K-1, a total cross-sectional area from 2×10-9 to 2×10-7 m<2> and shearing force from 80 to 800 MPa.
