PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for sustained release preparations, producible in a simple producing method, for protein or peptide medicines excellent in stabilizing proteins having biological activities, to provide a method for producing the same, and to provide a sustained release preparation containing the same. SOLUTION: This conjugate composition for sustained release preparations comprises a protein or a peptide each having biological activities, an acidic mucopolysaccharide and a multivalent metallic ion and is obtained by forming the conjugate in a neutral condition. Preferably, the protein having biological activity is at least one kind selected from the group consisting of bFGF, EGF, OCIF, PDGF, BDNF, NGF, HGH, HGF, VEGF, derivatives thereof and serum proteins, the acidic mucopolysaccharide is a chondroitinsulfuric acid or a hyaluronic acid and the multivalent metallic ion is divalent. The conjugate composition for sustained release preparation is obtained by mixing the acidic mucopolysaccharide solution and the multivalent metallic ion solution with a protein having biological activity in the neutral condition.
