PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for printing an image. SOLUTION: The device includes a source for ink. A liquid drop forming mechanism can operate in a first condition wherein a liquid drop having a first volume and moving along a first desired passage from the source is formed and in a second condition wherein a liquid drop having second volume and moving along the first desired passage from the source is formed. The liquid drop forming mechanism is placed in the vicinity of the source. A first system supplies a first force to the source to allow a selected liquid drop formed from the source by the liquid drop forming mechanism to move along a second desired passage. The first system is placed in the vicinity of the source. The second system supplies a second force to a liquid drop that moves along at least one of the first desired passage and the second desired passage. The second force is applied in a direction for branching the liquid drop having the first volume from the second liquid drop having the second volume.
