PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recyclable antimicrobial polyvinyl alcohol material. SOLUTION: The recyclable antimicrobial polyvinyl alcohol material and its manufacturing method are provided. The PVA material is obtained by covalently bonding a heterocyclic N-halamine material by an aqueous finish treatment. The PVA material, once manufactured, has antimicrobial activities against pathogenic microorganisms. The antimicrobial activities of the PVA material are regenerated by washing with a chlorine-containing solution.
