PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for conveying a web capable of eliminating complication of structure and work and preventing generation of a scratch and a wrinkle in the web. SOLUTION: This web conveying device 10 is provided with a plurality of rolls 11a and 11b, which are arranged in parallel substantially while spacing their outer circumferential faces mutually at a fixed interval S, and a suction box 12 arranged on the opposite side to the web 50 traveling side of the rolls. The suction box 12 is provided with a suction opening part 13 arranged on the side facing the rolls and a shielding plate 14 closing the suction opening part 13 partially in the whole of an area positioned on the outside of the width directional end part of the web 50 and in a part of an area positioned on the inside of the width directional end part of the web 50.
