AUTOMATICALLY TILTING GATE

PURPOSE: To provide an automatically tilting gate having both a multistage function and a single-stage function to cope with different amount of water in a channel and different water capacities of the channel, and enabling its method of operation to be selected by means of a simple structure. CONSTITUTION: An automatically tilting gate 1 comprises a door 3 vertically movably journaled to the bottom face of a channel 2 via a bearing device 33; a float chamber 5 in communication with an opening 4 provided in a sidewall 2a of the channel upstream of the door 3; a float 6 which rises and falls along the level of water in the float chamber 5; a wire 7 linked to the door 3; a door winding machine 8 having a winding drum 9 for winding up the wire 7; and an automatic tilting device 13 incorporated into the door winding machine 8. When the amount of water increases, the gate can be set by a function selecting means to operate in either a single-stage mode in which the door 3 is tilted at once or in a multistage mode in which the door 3 is tilted gradually. Thus, the level of water can be adjusted precisely to match conditions such as the amount of water in the channel and the water capacity of the channel.
