PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably correct quality of an image projected by a liquid crystal projector in accordance with projection environments such as the brightness and hue of the periphery of an image projection surface or the image projection surface itself. SOLUTION: A picture quality correction system for correcting the quality of an image projected by the liquid crystal projector 21 is provided with a light detection sensor 2 for detecting the brightness and hue of the periphery of the projector 21 and the image projection surface 10, a light detection sensor 12 for detecting the brightness and hue of the image projection surface 10, and a CPU 23 for correcting a video signal to be supplied to a liquid crystal panel in accordance with the detected brightness and hue of the periphery and the projection surface 10.
