PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem with a conventional shift fork having a slide surface formed flat at a tip part to a gear that the flat slide surface at the tip part will not be uniformly brought into contact with the gear, to increase bearing pressure, and increase abrasion quantity of a slide part by edge- abutment to a rotating gear side surface. SOLUTION: In this bifurcated shift fork for making speed change operation by axially sliding the gear of a transmission, form of the slide surface at the tip part of the shift fork is formed as a tapered trapezoid for improving abrasion resistance and lubrication performance. An inner circumferential part of the slide surface is chamfered, a groove is formed in the slide surface, and a root part of the slide surface is formed to be curved or tapered. Coating treatment is applied to the slide surface at the tip part of the shift fork.
