PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method for an absorption type refrigerator capable of preventing crystallization of lithium nitrate when lithium nitrate is used as an absorbent and ammonia as a refrigerant. SOLUTION: The absorption type refrigerator comprises a evaporator 1, an absorber 2, a regenerator 3, and a condenser 4. In the operation method for the absorption type refrigerator where lithium is used as an absorbent and ammonia as a refrigerant, during refrigeration operation, ammonia liquid stored in a storage tank 32 is fed to the regenerator 3 through an ammonia liquid introduction pipe 31 and during a stop of refrigeration operation, the ammonia liquid is fed to the regenerator 3 through an ammonia liquid transfer pipe 14. By increasing the temperature of the solution in the regenerator 3, a vapor pressure in the regenerator 3 is maintained at a pressure value exceeding the crystallization upper limit value of nitrate lithium in a range of a value exceeding the lower limit value of solution refrigerant concentration during operation.
