PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide alumina fiber block which has more excellent heat resistance and thermal insulation properties and alumina fiber block that can reduce the inside of the oven from the same amount of the material through a simple production process and a method of producing the same. SOLUTION: Mats or blankets of alumina fiber are laminated and compressed. The laminated mats or blankets have difference in their bulk density in the laminated face direction. Between the mats or blankets of a prescribed size, are inserted and laminated the smaller size of mats or blankets than those of the prescribed size as their edges are arranged in an order.
