PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contribute to determination of an appropriate disposal method for sediment in an impounding part of a dam which becomes an important issue lately by providing a floating body and a floating structure capable of floating on the water with heavy loads such as an appliance and a device loaded thereon as a substitute for a ship and a barge in the impounding part of the dam in a steep mountainous region difficult to use the ship and the barge. SOLUTION: This floating material 1 comprises a surface member 3 as its main part, closed cell foamed body 4 in its inside, and a surface support member 5 preventing the surface member from recessedly deformed due to water pressure. This material can solve any possibility of contraction and deformation due to the water pressure and loads, reduce the weight and increase the loading capacity, avoid buoyancy reduction caused by inside inundation possibly occurring when the inside is hollow such as the barge, setting the structure to an appropriate scale so as to easily perform shipping, and further increase the loading capacity of connecting them together so as to provide a floating structure capable of floating on the water with the heavy loads such as the appliance and device thereon using the floating material 1.
