PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rope for fastening an article, capable of preventing a gusty wind, location conditions, etc., from dislocating the article from a position where the article is located, and further capable of easily locating the article. SOLUTION: This rope 1 for fastening the article has a rope body 3 composed of plural elemental strings 2 and twined into a braid, wherein the rope body 3 is so structured that an opening 4 can be formed when compressive force is applied to an arbitrary position of the main body in the direction of shortening the rope and, on the other hand, the opening 4 can be closed when the rope is stretched in the direction of elongating the rope. When an operator uses the rope, he can insert a fastened part of the article into the opening 4 formed by applying the compressive force in the direction of shortening the rope and can firmly fasten the article at the fastened part by stretching the rope in the direction of elongating the rope 1. The rope 1 is used for suitably locating a protective sheet in a construction site a laundry hanger, etc.
