PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic lens meter with a simple structure and high accuracy. SOLUTION: In the automatic lens meter, a pattern formed on a pattern forming member is projected and an optical characteristic of a lens under inspection is measured from displacement information of a pattern image when the lens under inspection is arranged in an optical path of an optical system forming the pattern image to when it is not. Four cross shaped line sensors 10a, 10b, 10c, and 10d arranged on a pattern image forming face are used as an image sensor detecting a position of the pattern image, and a member forming a rectangular shape pattern image with each side crossing each line sensor on a pattern forming face is used as the pattern image forming member.
