PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method and device to polish efficiently a small surface at a right angle to the side face. SOLUTION: A thin and long stone to be processed has quadrangle small surface at the end and four side faces extending in the longitudinal direction, and the method and device to polish the small surface of the stone is composed of a connector in plane contact with at least one of the four side faces, fixed to the stone, and providing a reference surface perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, a motor holder to hold a motor having a grinding wheel confronting the reference surface in such a way as capable of advancing and retreating in the direction perpendicular to the reference surface, a guide mechanism to guide the motor holder in the direction parallel with the reference surface, and a stopper to restrict the maximum moving amount of the grinding wheel toward the small surface.
