PURPOSE: Provided is a method for preparing a polyester polymer which has an excellent fire retardancy without the lowering of its intrinsic physical property, with high yield. CONSTITUTION: The method for polymerizing a fire retardant polyester containing a fire retardant represented by formula I in the amount of 500-50000 ppm(based on content of phosphorus atom) with respect to the polymer is characterized in that 1-200 ppm of complex catalyst of titanium dioxide and silicon dioxide is used in polymerization. In the formula I, each of R4 and R5 is hydrogen atom, or C2-C4 radical having omega-hydroxyl group which is identical or different, respectively, and n is an integer of 1-5. In the method, below 10 wt% of titanium dioxide(based on weight of the polymer) is used as a flatting agent.
