PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tracking apparatus which increases the accuracy of a correlation processing operation. SOLUTION: In a situation that the judgment of a correlation by a quasi- optimization processing part 21 is difficult, a tracking processing operation is continued while a plurality of high-reliability hypotheses created by a hypothesis creation part 15 are left, and a postponement decision-type correlation processing system in which the reliability of each hypothesis is evaluated once again after an observed value after the next time onward has been obtained is realized. When a quasi-optimization control part 20 is installed, a processing method in which the hypotheses to be left are narrowed down by the processing part 21 or the value of a parameter used by the processing method can be decided at each time according to the operating situation of the apparatus. Thereby, the method in which the hypotheses are narrowed down can be changed so as to be adapted to a change in the situation at each time. As a result, the accuracy of the correlation processing operation can be increased.
