PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building construction capable of reducing the quantity of lumber for a beam member without degrading the strength of the beam member. SOLUTION: This building construction is equipped with a column 1 and a beam member 2 such as a beam or girder; and the beam member 2 is equipped with at least two structural portions 3 and 3 extended in a horizontal direction, a hollow portion 4 penetrating between the structural portion 3 and 3 in upper and lower directions, and a coupling portion 5 connecting together both the structural portions 3 and 3. By providing the hollow portion 4 in the beam member 4, the required quantity of the lumber can be reduced. Especially the hollow portion 4 penetrates between the structural portions 3 and 3 in upper and lower direction the cross section (longitudinal cross section) in the upper and lower directions, to which a load is applied, does not reduce the cross sectional area and thus the strength of the building is not decreased.
