PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that it is required to deliver dot information entirely from a print control section to a print head unit and the volume of data to be transferred increases when the print speed or the resolution is increased. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises a print control section for receiving control data and print data from a host controller, and a print head unit for performing printing based on the print data. The print control section comprises a section for compressing the print data received from the host unit to produce compression data, and the print head unit comprises a section for decompressing the compression data received from the print control section.
