PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a runner of a water turbine and a water turbine reduced in weight and manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The inside of a vane 4 used in the runner has a rib structure. The rib is constituted by a flowing direction rib 4c supporting the flowing direction of a fluid and a vertical rib 4d disposed at right angles to the flowing direction of flowing water to secure rigidity of the vane. A hole 4e is provided in the side of each rib, and the space in the vane can be filled with a filler so as to secure rigidity of the vane 4. At the front edge part 4a and rear edge part 4b which are the end parts of the vane 4, the strength is secured by integral construction using casting, and a three-dimensional shape can be easily formed.
