PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for patterning a molding plate, capable of clearly forming a deeply engraving style uneven pattern. SOLUTION: The method for patterning the molding plate comprises the steps of first sandwiching under pressure the extrusion molded molding plate 1 between rolls 2 and 3, forming protruding positions 6 by recess positions 7 on the upper surface, and forming the recess positions 7 by the protruding parts 3a on the lower surface. In this case, the protruding positions 6 are formed by lifting the plate 1 by the protrusions 3a from the lower side and pushing the upper surface into the recess parts 2a. The positions 6 are thereafter engaged with the recess parts 4a of a roll 4, and a fine uneven pattern of the inner surface of the parts 4a is transferred.
