The present invention provides a functionalized fiber material having a skin care effect enabling sustained discharge of a skin care component by an action of a fat and oil component such as sebum present on a skin surface of the human body, without losing feel or moisture absorption and release properties which are possessed by the fiber. The functionalized fiber material is obtained by treating a fiber material comprising natural fiber, regenerated fiber, synthetic fiber and mixed fibers with a treatment liquid in which alpha -tocopherol acetate is emulsified in water with a surfactant. alpha -tocopherol acetate is adhered in an amount of 0.3 to 45.0 mg/g. The concentration of alpha -tocopherol acetate in the emulsified liquid for the fiber treatment is preferably 0.5 to 100.0 g/l.
