PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rationalize the manufacturing process of a piezoelectric element packaged in a knock sensor used for an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: In a method of manufacturing the piezoelectric element 8, a polarizing step is performed in a temperature range higher than the Curie temperature in a cooling step of cooling the atmospheric temperature in a kiln from the high temperature set in an electrode baking step to an ordinary temperature. Consequently, the atmospheric temperature condition required for the polarizing step can be obtained during the cooling step without providing any polarizing step separately. Therefore, the manufacturing cost and manufacturing time of the method can be reduced and, accordingly, the manufacturing process of the element can be rationalized. |
