PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly drive a vehicle forward by fastening a bypass clutch corresponding to a specific shift range even when failure in an electric system is generated during travel of the vehicle in an automatic transmission having the bypass clutches. SOLUTION: The automatic transmission is provided with an input shaft having plural drive gears, and an output shaft having plural follower gears to be engaged with the drive gears, and it has two bypass clutches 31 and 32 for engagement and disengagement between the input shaft and the output shaft are provided. In the bypass clutch 31, a bypass oil path to feed hydraulic pressure when the electric system has failed is opened by bypass oil path opening/closing valve 88. When a reverse range is selected by operation of a select lever, a bypass oil path selector valve 91 makes changing action to feed the hydraulic pressure to the first bypass clutch 31 based on hydraulic pressure from a reverse servo valve.
