PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for managing heating units of a thermal head in which a resistance value of the heating unit of a printing head can be measured in a short time. SOLUTION: The device is constituted of a voltage output circuit 26 for changing a voltage value according to resistance values of heating units r1-rn which constitute the thermal head 19, a state output circuit 28 for generating each state output in accordance with whether a voltage of the voltage output circuit 26 is within a limit value or outside the limit value, and a discrimination circuit 27 for discriminating resistance values of the heating units r1-rn upon receipt of the state output of the state output circuit 28.
