PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder wherein a viscosity of ink in a meniscus section in a nozzle of a recording head is hardly increased even when a time period for conveying a paper is comparatively long by virtue of page break in the way of printing, thereby improving the teliability in the printing. SOLUTION: A control means of the ink jet recorder controls a piezoelectric vibrating element to allow a meniscus section of ink in a nozzle to perform microvibration in an extent that ink drops are not ejected during the standby time for conveying a paper for the page break as a measure that increasing of the viscosity of the ink in the nozzle is prevented. A number of steps of a motor for discharging the paper is counted to measure a quantity of a recording paper conveyed for the printing (S101, S102). When a break page instruction is received (S103), a time period T to be taken for the page break is calculated based on the residual quantity of the recording paper by using the calculated value (S104). When the time period is not less than a preset value To, the microvibration is started (S105, S106). When the discharge of the recording paper is completed and a paper feed instruction is received, the microvibration is stopped (S108).
