PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ferritic stainless steel which has excellent cold forgeability and corrosion resistance after high temperature treatment, and is used as a material for various plants, industrial equipment, precision machines and automobile parts. SOLUTION: The ferritic stainless steel having excellent cold forgeability and corrosion resistance after high temperature treatment has a composition containing, by mass, 0.005 to 0.05% C, <=0.5% Si, <=0.5% Mn, 16.00 to 19.00% Cr, >0.10 to 0.50% Nb, 0.005 to 0.05% N and >0.02% C+N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and also satisfying 1<Nb/(C+N)<25. Alternatively, the ferritic stainless steel contains one or more kinds selected from 0.001 to 0.10% Al, <=0.01% S, <=0.05% Ti, <=0.01% B and <=0.005% O, in addition to the above composition.
