PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric discharge machine capable of accurately detecting the position of a workpiece in a short time by a simple means in view of damaging the workpiece and generating a detection error in detecting the position of the workpiece in a conventional electric discharge machining device. SOLUTION: The electric discharge machine is provided with an image pickup means 3 for picking up the image of the workpiece 2; a display means 4 for displaying the image of the workpiece 2 picked up by the image pickup means 3; a moving means 1 for moving the workpiece 2; an operating means 4 for inputting the moving quantity of the moving means 1 and moving the moving means 1; and a control means 5 for enlarging or reducing the image of the workpiece displayed on the display means 4, corresponding to the input value of the operating means 4.
