PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing apparatus and a washing method for washing excavated articles such as earthenware efficiently without damaging the excavated articles. SOLUTION: The excavated article washing apparatus includes a box having a window through which the inside can be seen and an opening through which hands are inserted for operation and a water jetting apparatus installed in the inside of the box and enabled to adjust the temperature and the pressure for jetting fine water droplets, and washes excavated articles transported in the box by jetting hot water by the water jetting apparatus.
