PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slide drive device which eliminates disadvantages of the sinusoidal motion and the knuckle motion while having only advantages in a press of the same configuration. SOLUTION: This slide drive device comprises a connecting rod 4, a vertically moving slider 7 above a crank shaft 3, a drive link 9 with one end thereof connected to a small end part of the connecting rod 4 by a slider output pin 8, a toggle upper link 11 supported by a fixed supporting pin 10 with one end part thereof connected to the drive link by a drive output pin 12, and a toggle lower link 13 with one end thereof connected to the drive output pin 12 which is connected to a plunger 15 fixed to a slide 14 and movable along the perpendicular of the fixed supporting pin 10 by a connection pin 16. The drive link is oscillated in a range of 30-80 deg. with respect to the perpendicular and in a range of 2-35 deg. with respect to the perpendicular of the toggle upper link 11 while the connecting rod ratio is in a range of 4-8.
