PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating method, by which partition coating is easily performed with the optional feeling of coating quality. SOLUTION: In the coating method performed by carrying an automobile body at a prescribed speed and spraying a coating material on a coating region of the automobile body 8 by reciprocally moving coating guns 9, 10 and 11 for top coating in a direction crossing the carrying direction nearly at a right angle, the coating of the automobile body 8 having at least two or more coating regions, where coating times are different from each other, is performed by moving the coating guns 9, 10 and 11 for top coating reciprocally in the same and opposite directions as and to the carrying direction of the automobile body 8 and optionally changing the relative speed of the carrying speed of the automobile body 8 to the moving speed of the coating guns 9, 10 and 11 in the same direction as that of the automobile body 8 respectively in a coating region and in other coating regions corresponding to the coating quality required in each part.
