<p>Tetramycin (I) an antibiotic with weak bactericidal and strong fungicidal activity is prepared as follows: Streptomyces noursei Hazen & Brown 1950, var. jenensis nov. var. JA 3789 or a mutant, is incubated aerobically 2-4 days at 24-32 degrees, filtered, and extracted, at pH 4-5 with n-butanol. The crude product is purified by formation of a double salt with (Et3NH)2SO4 or by pptn. from pyridine soln. with a non-polar solvent.</p> |
