PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope system capable of obtaining a clear color image of a vocal cord moving at a high speed with an area sequential method in the endoscope system. SOLUTION: The endoscope system comprises a microphone for sensing a sound wave generated from the vocal cord, and the sound wave synchronous light shielding means for irradiated the vocal cord with the sound wave sensed by the microphone at each color of the irradiating light.
