PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multipurpose desk capable of working in either case of sitting on a chair or in a sofa or standing. SOLUTION: A top plate 22 of the multipurpose desk 22 is horizontally and liftably supported to a body 11 by a pair of left/right X link devices 30 and 30. The both ends of each first link bar 31 of the X link devices are rotatably and pivotally mounted on the top plate 22 and the body 11 by pins 34 and 35, and the both ends of the second link bar 32 are supported to a slide rail 27 sliding the top plate 22 in the front/rear direction and a roller 37 rolling a guide hole 36 of the body 11 in the front/rear direction. A gas spring device 40 with a lock device is interposed between the top plate 22 and the body 11 and casters 17 are attached to the lower ends of the body 11. The position of the top plate can be steplessly set by adjusting the length of the gas spring device with the lock device so that the top plate can be appropriately changed over into either of positions when working on a business chair, when working in the sofa, and when working on his feet.
