PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for automating the work for replacing a deteriorated electrode with a new electrode in a TIG welding. SOLUTION: The device for replacing an electrode which extracts a worn electrode 4 fitted on a welding torch 1 mounted on a moving device 3 of welding torch and repeatedly used for welding works and inserts a new electrode 5, is provided with the welding torch 1 furnished with an electrode clamping cylinder 11 at the upper part to clamp and unclamp the electrode 4, a used electrode extracting mechanism 21 which extracts the used electrode of the welding torch 1 which is moved to a used electrode extracting position 21P, an electrode supplying mechanism 22 which supplies a plurality of new electrodes 5 at a new electrode supplying position 22P, and an electrode moving mechanism 23 which moves the new electrode 5 to an electrode projecting position 24P with a driving source.
