PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus capable of effectively carrying out restraining of fat without provoking signal deterioration due to a water proton even in a middle and low magnetic field, and drawing bloodstream with high contrast. SOLUTION: In detecting echo signals issued from a targeted molecule by irradiating a high frequency magnetic field of a first magnetic resonance frequency and reconstructing an image, prior to irradiation of the first high frequency magnetic field, the control is carried out to irradiate a second high frequency magnetic field. The frequency band of the second high frequency magnetic field does not include the first magnetic resonance frequency f1, bat includes the magnetic resonance frequency f2 of a second molecule having a frequency different from the molecule to image, and the control is made so as to make the difference between the central frequency f3 and the first magnetic resonance frequency f1 greater than the difference between the resonance frequency f2 of the second molecule and the first resonance frequency f1, and make the clip angle smaller than 90 degrees.
