New blue fluorescent 4-[v triazoyl-(2)]-naphthalimides of the formula WHEREIN R1 is hydrogen, aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic groups R2 and R3 are independently, hydrogen, aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, or aliphatic or monocyclic aryl groups for use as brighteners are disclosed. R1, R2 and R3 can be further substituted.
