PURPOSE: An automatic transmission control method of a vehicle and a device thereof are provided to improve shift quality by changing speed precisely at high speed according to road condition. CONSTITUTION: A differential torque signal, a throttle valve state signal and an output speed signal are input to a road condition state deciding unit(301,303,305). A value of membership function is output based on signals(307). The road surface value is output corresponding to membership function for the maximum value(309). A road state signal is generated according to fuzzy rule within the range of road value, and transmitted to a shift line deciding unit(311). An upshift line is selected in an uphill road(315), and selection of a brake pedal is checked in a downhill(317). The downshift line is selected in selecting the brake pedal(319). Shift quality is improved with changing speed automatically according to shift pattern based on the road condition signal.
