VOLTAGE BALANCING DEVICE AND VOLTAGE BALANCING METHOD FOR SERIALLY CONNECTED ACCUMULATOR ARRAY

PURPOSE: A voltage balancing device and a voltage balancing method are provided to achieve improved performance of each accumulator and lengthening the useful life of each accumulator, while avoiding a short circuit between accumulators. CONSTITUTION: A voltage balancing device comprises a variable switch(32) shunt to each accumulator of a serially connected accumulator array; and an adjustment accumulator having both ends coupled to the variable switch, and which is shunt to each accumulator of the accumulator array by opening/shutting the variable switch. The adjustment accumulator is shunt to one accumulator of the accumulator array by opening/shutting the variable switch, and partially absorbs/provides electricity from/to the accumulator. The adjustment accumulator is then shunt to another accumulator, and absorbs/provides electricity from/to the accumulator in such a manner that each accumulator of the accumulator array is maintained at voltages with little difference.
