PURPOSE: A sunscreen composition containing natural material such as Rubia cordifolia L. and aloe to protect the skin from the damaging effects of solar ultraviolet radiation is provided which has an excellent efficacy on protection of skin necrosis caused by ultraviolet radiation while shielding ultraviolet rays. CONSTITUTION: Aloe vera and kelp are extracted at 100deg.C in a suitable amount of water for 1.5hr, added with Rubia cordifolia L. and then extracted at 100deg.C or more for 2hr. The sunscreen composition contains 75% or more by weight of Rubia cordifolia L. agar as a main component and the balance comprising an extract of aloe vera and kelp and an excipient.
