PURPOSE: A unit for processing web packing materials in a food packing machine and a method for indexing the web packing materials are provided to manufacture small packages by arranging an operating device at a repetitive length distance of the web packing materials. CONSTITUTION: A unit(1) for processing web packing materials(2) in a food packing machine and a method for indexing the web packing materials, which are characterized a specified periodically repetitive length(R), are composed of feed control devices(14,10,18) feeding the web packaging materials stepwise and at least first number processing devices(3a,3b,3c,5a,5b,5c) installed way off along a feed path(P) with performing a same operation on the web packaging materials in parallel each time while the material stops. In addition, the processing device is separated at an equal distance(D) to the number of second repetitive lengths larger than 1.
