PURPOSE: A switch capable of increasing capacity is provided to increase its capacity by being expanded from a 5G grade to 10G grade irrespective of a kind of line card. CONSTITUTION: A processor unit(110) communicates with an external control processor, grasps the states of a plurality of line cards(10), outputs its own state to the external control processor, and outputs a line card control signal and a switch selection control signal. An input port control unit(120) receives the line card control signal from the processor unit(110), judges a kind of the line cards(10) connected to an input port, and activates a data bus of the input port according to a kind of the line cards(10). An output port control unit(130) receives the line card control signal from the processor unit(110), judges a kind of the line cards(10) connected to an output port, and activates a data bus of the output port according to a kind of the line cards(10). A switching control unit(140) receives the switch selection control signal from the processor unit(110) and outputs a switching control signal corresponding to the received switch selection control signal. A switching unit(150) receives the switching control signal from the switching control unit(140) and performs a switching processing operation corresponding to the switching control signal.
