TOOL FOR CUTTING TITANIUM ALLOYS

PURPOSE: A sintering carbide tool insert having a reduced first length for cutting titanium alloys is provided to expand the life of tools, to improve the insert by performing an additional heat treatment after grinding to a final shape and dimension, and to increase productivity by reducing the replacing times of the tool. CONSTITUTION: A sintering carbide tool insert of titanium alloys is composed of the Co of 5 to 7 weight % and the remaining amount of WC and the surface of the insert is partially covered with a thin Co layer of 0.5 to 8 micrometer over 50%.
