ANGELICAE GIGANTIS RADIX EXTRACT HAVING NEUROPROTECTIVE ACTION AND PHARMACEUTICAL PREPARATION CONTAINING THE SAME

PURPOSE: An Angelicae gigantis radix extract and a pharmaceutical preparation containing the same are provided which have no toxicity as well as excellent action on inhibition of death of a nerve cell by various causes and are effective for the prevention and treatment of cerebral apoplexy caused by death of a nerve cell. CONSTITUTION: Angelicae gigantis radix is extracted in water, low alcohol, hexane and ethyl acetate or a mixed solvent thereof, concentrated and freeze-dried, wherein the low alcohol is selected from the group consisting of methanol, ethanol and butanol. The preventive and therapeutic pharmaceutical preparation for cerebral apoplexy contains the Angelicae gigantis radix extract as an effective component.
