PURPOSE: A device for controlling operation of reciprocating compressor is provided to control a top dead center of a piston considering error due to non-linear properties. CONSTITUTION: A device includes a current detective part(20) detecting current impressed to a motor(M); a current peak value detective part(100) comparing current detected by the current detective part with previously detected current to output corresponding current peak value detection signal; a microcomputer(40) receiving current peak value detection signal from the current peak value detective part and outputting switching control signal to keep the current peak value; and an electric circuit part(10) intermitting alternating current power by a triac(Tr1) to impress voltage to a reciprocating compression part(L.COMP) according to the switching control signal of the microcomputer.
