PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for transmitting overhead data in a mobile communication base station system are provided to enhance a data transmission efficiency about various channels by embodying one overhead modem for collectively transmitting the overhead data about various channels. CONSTITUTION: A base station control block reads transmission formats of various channel, overhead data, and a transmission time of the overhead data stored in a database, and transmits the transmission formats of various channel, the overhead data, and the transmission time of the overhead data to a CPU in a channel card(S1). The CPU transmits the overhead data to a mobile station(S2). The CPU judges whether the overhead data are normally transmitted to the mobile station(S3). If the overhead data are normally transmitted to the mobile station, the CPU transmits a time transmission completion response signal to the base station control block(S4). If the overhead data are not normally transmitted to the mobile station, the CPU transmits a time transmission failure response signal to the base station control block(S5).
